المهر al-Mahr also written al-Mehr or also called الصداق as-Sadaaq the bride price that is given by a man to a woman because of marriage and sexual intercourse.
The main linguistic and fiqh distinction between Mahr and Sadaaq is that al-Mahr can be given immediately at the time of nikah معجل or later مؤجل, while as-Sadaaq has to be quoted at the time of nikah.
