It is permitted to leave during a sermon unless it is a sermon of jumu'ah. This is due to the fact that the juma'h prayer is fard 'ayn (obligatory on every male Muslim unless he has a valid excuse, note that the majority considers the khutba as a necessary condition that's why leaving during the khutba therefore needs strong and valid excuses like saving a ...
As per comments above:
The sermon held by Imam on friday is individual - i.e. the Imam chooses which topics to speak about and refers to Quran and Sunna regarding those topics. IF you want that in english you will need to ask the mosque whether they have such a translation available (some do, some don't).
As for the last sermon of Prophet (PBUH+SAWS) you ...
If the majority of worshippers are Arabic speakers, then the Khutba should be in Arabic. If not, there should be a khutba in the language most commonly understood between them. The importance of a Khutba is to guide the believers/ worshippers in Islam; how can they be guided if they do not understand the language?
The Quran states that Allah sent messages ...
No it's not haram ...
the aim of forbidding anything during Jummah sermon is to focus and under stand what Emmam is talking about.
taking notes is type of concentrating on what Emmam is talking about so it's not haram and there's no any reference telling us that :)
I don't have the English version of that Hadith but I'll give you the link of ...
What one should do while the Imam or Khateeb is holding the sermon of Jumu'ah
Let me first point at a couple of ahadith teaching us the correct virtuous of listening to the jumu'ah sermon:
One should avoid speaking even if it is for the purpose of enjoining what is good and forbidding what is evil, because of:
'If you say to your companion: Listen ...
According to the majority of the mahabs, leaning on either a staff, bow or sword in the Khutbah is sunnah and hence mustahab.
يسن أن يعتمد على قوس أو سيف أو عصا أو نحوها
The Sunnah is to lean on a bow or sword or staff or like that

The evidence in hadith includes:
شهدنا فيها الجمعة مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فقام متوكئا على عصا أو ...
In Arabic, the word used is "العادّون", and it's basically an agent noun for the verb "to calculate" or "to count". In much the same way that a "writer" is "one who writes" and a "baker" is "one who bakes", a "calculator" is "one who calculates".
The same word is also used in the Qur'an, which I include here with various translations:
قالوا لبثنا يوما ...
Note that to pray a congregation prayer you need at least two people who ar mukallaf (reached at least the ade of puberty and have no mental sickness etc.).
For jumuah prayer these two people should further be male.
This would be the minimum requirement however most scholars would require a bigger gathering as jumuah in the early days was performed in only ...
There are many sermons collected in different books. You will find some of them in different books of Hadith. And others in the books of Seerah. And there are many books was collecting sermons only.
So, if you read any comprehensive book in Seerah, you will read about many sermons.
And in fact, the last sermon is not one sermon. There are at least 3 sermons.
A Muslim is supposed to ask Allaah to send salaah and salaam upon the Messenger of Allaah when he hears the mention of the Messenger of Allaah. The wisdom appears to be to keep tongues moist with the remembrance of Allaah and his messenger.
It would not befit the spirit of this practice to reduce it to a literal meaning, that if the Messenger's name was ...
Definitely it was not possible for 10000 people to listen Imam without microphone. There's no hidden magic that you're looking forward.
But for prayers, Takbeerat were recalled by persons in mid to be audible to farthest.
Whatever we see in Friday Prayer (Specially Khutbah) is correct way because there is no contradiction between any Imam.
If you want to explore see all the hadith on Jummah (Friday Prayer)
It is He who has sent among the unlettered a Messenger from themselves
reciting to them His verses and purifying them and teaching them the
Book and ...
The condition for Jummah prayer is that it needs to be done in the public and we cannot perform it alone or secretly. As a result, if you are praying at home, you simply cannot perform Jummah prayer, rather you have to pray Duhr prayer as usual. Jazakallahu Khairun!
In my humble opinion you did nothing wrong, rather I would appreciate that you were so deeply involved in listening to ‘khutaba’ that you responded involuntarily and instantly and it was the voice of your heart. You have praised Almighty Allaah, you will be rewarded, in-sha-Allaah. My arguments regarding this are as follows;
It is recommended that ...
❶ - Arabic is the language of Islam, and the Khutbah is part of Islam - and it is absolutely essential not to lose motivation for learning arabic in it's pure form. The Qur'an is only Arabic:
وكذلك أنزلناه قرآنا عربيّا وصرفنا فيه من الوعيد لعلهم يتقون أو يحدث
لهم ذكرا 20:113. And thus We have sent it down as a Qur'ân in Arabic,
and have explained ...
All perfect praise be to Allah.
Question 1: In the beginning of this sermon Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) talks about he not knowing if he'll be alive after that year. Did he know when he was going to die?
Answer: No one knows when he will die except Allah. A person don't even know he will have another breath or not. This is what life is.
After this being said. ...
