So I came across this

"وقال عبد اللَّه: حدثني أبي قال: حدثنا غسان بن الربيع قال: حدثنا أبو إسرائيل، عن طلحة بن مصرف قال: كنا نختلف إلى يحيى بن وثاب نقرأ عليه، والأعمش ساكت ما يقرأ عليه، فلما توفي يحيى بن وثاب فتشنا أصحابنا فإذا الأعمش أقرؤنا. "العلل" رواية عبد اللَّه (2598)

It's also in Tarikh Baghdad I believe. So i am a bit confused on what His silence means?

  • As you managed to copy the content here you surely would manage to share a link to where you've got this statement from. Yahya ibn Wathaab يحيى بن وثاب was al-'A'mashs teacher in qira'at -and this is well-known- this narration only may imply that al-'A'mash was able to memorize the correct tajweed without reading in front of his teacher at least according to this statement.
