Assalam o alaikum,

I know it does not sound appropriate to ask question about whether an earning is halal or haram if it is received from an illegal source. Apparently it should not be allowed. But I have seen so many international students who, in addition to taking classes at the university, work part-time at restaurants and Uber/Door-Dash etc, and are paid under-the-table i.e. in cash (this way they can avoid getting caught). These students are mostly on F-1 visa and thus, legally, they are not allowed to work off-campus. My question is: Will such an earning be considered halal?

P.S Consider that the restaurant only offers halal food. Thus the question is not about alcohol/pork etc. It is concerning the legality of the job.
