Assalamualaikum waramatullahi wabarakatuhu,

My question is, in my society we use to pray magrib by 10 minutes to 7 o'clock or sometimes 7 o'clock, but today is like we are going to have rain and the day is already dark by 6 o'clock 30 minutes, so are we going to pray magrib at that time or wait till our regular time.

  • Whether has no influence on the prayer time however might be a reason for the permission to join some prayers. – Medi1Saif Sep 27 at 19:08

Prayer times are traditionally calculated according to the position of the sun, regardless of the weather.

There is typically a 90 minute window (varies by season and location) for praying maghrib for it to be valid, so even though it's typically prayed at the beginning of that period it is permissible to delay it if you are unable to determine the position of the sun and need to ensure you're not praying it outside of its time. However, praying it early because of inclement weather is a mistake no matter how dark it is.

saying of الله the most high:

Al-Ma'aarij 40

(9) [He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs.

Al-Muzzammil 9

(17) [He is] Lord of the two sunrises and Lord of the two sunsets.

the prophet محمد ﷺ said:

He then commanded and Iqama for the evening prayer was pronounced when the sun had sunk. He then commanded and Iqama for the night prayer was pronounced when the twilight had disappeared. He then delayed the morning prayer on the next day (so much so) that after returning from it one would say that the sun had risen or it was about to rise. He then delayed the noon prayer till it was near the time of afternoon prayer (as it was observed yesterday). He then delayed the afternoon prayer till one after returning from it would say that the sun had become red. He then delayed the evening prayer till the twilight was about to disappear.

know that sunrises and sunsets change during year's days between increasing and decreasing depending on the length of the night and the day as example recently here the day shortned which means sunset decrease. [07:25, 07:24, 07:23 PM]

I mentioned the arguments of religion refer to scholars for fatwae: those who are famous by following and in clinging to the book [quran] and the sunnah [sahiha]

what was mentioned by @goldpseudo isn't correct for all times precisly Fajr and Maghreb and scholars talked on that.

  • You seem to have misunderstood the question. Change in sunset\sunrise time is not due to weather and your quotes are not related to weather either. – UmH Sep 28 at 15:26
