Asalam walaikum brothers and sisters,

I started having bad thoughts from a while back but they were never really persistent but they have become so now. I had thoughts when watching a show such as I worksip satan and all that I immediately start dhikir and ask for forgiveness then it subsided. After that whenever I walked by something or someone the thoughts in my head would say am I allah is he or she or that allah? I felt really bad about this and accepted that I WAS SINNING AND GOING TO HELL. Other thoughts about Islam occasionally pop up like is islam true is this all true etc etc. I feel very bad and stressed out about this I have no idea how to stop it and why it is happening. I recently started praying about 3 months ago the five prayers. Now these thoughts have become sexual about parents siblings etc, sometimes even these thoughts integrate allah into it, when I know they are not true. I have become so confused and dont know if this is me or waswas. The sexual thoughts are like do you want to f*ck your siblings parents, etc. Astagfirullah I feel ashamed for even saying it. I have shared some of these thoughts with my mother and she says to keep asking forgiveness and not give it much thought. Is it a sin that I shared with her? And please tell me I'm not the only one experiencing these thoughts and that I'm not going to hell for this.

  • Congratulations, You have annoyed the devil with your practice of Islam. Keep praying and make more good deeds. Here is a very powerful dua رَبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ هَمَزَاتِ الشَّيَاطِينِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ رَبِّ اَنْ يَّحْضُرُونِ. Also whenever you get waswasa, just strike your left thigh with the index finger of right hand and say "Bismillah" with each strike (This is from hadith). InshaAllah you will see the benefit. Also don't think much about them, they will go away when you don't pay attention. – Muhammad Babar Jun 10 '20 at 13:13

I believe this is Waswas, every single person has his/her own.. it's not only you

The solution is to be patient against these thoughts and never fall into the trap of the devil, it can be useful to make yourself busy away from these thought by learning a new skill, having a useful hobby, or reading book, and always seek refuge in Allah, as in 41-36: "And if there comes to you from Satan an evil suggestion, then seek refuge in Allah . Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing."

You (and everyone of us) have to remember that every moment in our lives is a test, we either pass it or fail it, and Allah accounts on actual acts not on thoughts, Allah says in Albaqarah 2-286: "Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. "Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people"

Will you go to hell? No one on earth can tell you a definite answer, our absolute faith in Allah is that he is the most merciful and the most forgiving, but we need to do everything possible to deserve this forgiveness.
