If we pray to Allah (SWT) for something, but it does not happen or does not happen fully, do we say Allah still answered the prayer but in His Wisdom he did not grant exactly what we requested? Or, should we look at our own faults, and try to think about where we are doing wrong?

I think I understand that even if something isn't answered right away, we should keep making du'a for it and not give up. But, I wonder that maybe we ask Allah something, and as Allah knows what we don't know and has infinite wisdom, so we may not get what we ask for? Maybe Allah grants us some other blessings in its place?
