With reference to the Hadith #, 1633 of Sahih Muslim quoted as follows,

Ibn 'Abbas reported that the Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) combined the noon prayer with the afternoon prayer and the sunset prayer with the 'Isha' prayer in Medina without being in a state of danger or rainfall. And in the hadith transmitted by Waki' (the words are): I said to Ibn 'Abbas: What prompted him to do that? He said: So that his (Prophet's) Ummah should not be put to (unnecessary) hardship. And in the hadith transmitted by Mu'awiya (the words are): It was said to Ibn 'Abbas: What did he intend thereby? He said he wanted that his Ummah should not be put to unnecessary hardship.

I was unable to find the proper way to offer combined prayer, please help me in this and provide reference if possible. Thanks.

  • There are enough answers on the site explaining how. In fact you pray two prayers at the time of one of them. Beside this speaking of dhorayn الظهرين or maghribayn المغربين is crucially wrong and misleading as it seems to indicate you pray two dhor and maghrib prayers which is not the case. – Medi1Saif Mar 14 '20 at 11:15
  • for الظهرين should we offer 4 and 4 separate rakaat or 8 rakaat gathered? – Ali Raza Mar 14 '20 at 14:35
  • I think two separate prayers is explanation enough. And dhorayn is wrong you pray dhor and 'asr. BTW this version of the hadith in Sahih Muslim is not agreed upon and many scholars doubt it and say there's information missing here. – Medi1Saif Mar 14 '20 at 14:42
