Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu,

I would like to know if this action is classified as shirk.

When a person was about 10 yrs old they started praying, but then they stopped praying, But they always believed in Allah (SWT) and no one else as god. They also recited the Quran and fasted. They never prayed for about 2-3 years. Then later the person got the knowledge of the importance of the prayers and started to pray. Now they have Alhamdulilah been constant in their prayers. What they did before, is that an action of any type of shirk?

Please let me know as soon as possible with some evidence from the Sahih Hadith and the Quran.

Jazakallah khair.
