This verse has also been previously discussed in other posts, such as this, but in the linked post, the answer receiving the most up-votes, that of Medi1saif's, unfortunately didn't answer the question concretely.

He redirected the viewers to World-building SE, where he posted about this matter. Reading the answers from there, I find that they are not along the same line with that of the verse 31:10.

Because, there, in the 2nd scenario of the answer receiving the most upvotes, it was mentioned that if all of the mountains were magically removed, there would be immediate repercussions and there would be world-wide earthquakes. This might convince you into quenching your doubt about 31:10.

But this is not what 31:10 is talking about. The verse is saying that mountains add stability to the ground, otherwise, the earth would shake with us, implying that the earth would have been moving due to OUR movement, which is unscientific.

So what is a concrete conclusion of the verse 31:10?

N.B: (Medi1saif, if you're reading this, what is your take on 31:10 now i.e.after reading the answer on Worldbuilding SE?)

If there's any probem in my question please inform me. Thanks!

How do you say that "with you" means "due to you"? If I am not mistaken it means that it would shift, taking you with it. – UmH Jan 11 at 16:20
  • Scientific conclusions are hardly on-topic here. My answer is related to a vague statement made by the OP of the question and I tried to cover it to the best of my knowledge and tried to show that the closest verse to that statement actullay was interpreted differently even far away from what OP was assuming. As for the answers given on other sites I know and appreciate them else I won't share them. – Medi1Saif Jan 12 at 0:59

You should ask a clear and independent question instead of discussing an answer in which I assumed that OP was meaning verse 31:10. While there are actually other possibilities. As OP didn't give any feedback it's unclear what she meant. – Medi1Saif Jan 13 at 10:52
  • A concrete scientific conclusion and tafseer (qur'an interpretation) are two distinct matters. And when scholars differ on a topic then there's either no concrete answer or one may find one by weighting, or by excluding others. – ياsr Jan 13 at 17:09
