I am a Muslim and I keep hearing from people that rizq(what a person would eat) is promised by God and will be given and one has to focus on following religion rather than worrying too much about where money will come from. This made me think why people die of hunger? What explanation does religion has for it?
Explanation is simple. Death is predestined. Those people are destined to die at that time by that method. Their Rizq beyond their fixed life was not ordained.
This does not mean that they should not exert effort to earn their Rizq. Prophet Yusuf in Egypt told them to take advantage of 7 years of abundance and to store grain to withstand the 7 years of famine, he didn't tell them to go to sleep and let Allah worry about their Rizq.
Yes, you should not worry much about what will you eat, Allah gives rizq, but this does not mean you should not worry about it. If you do not work and try to get it, food can not come out of nowhere. Peope dying of hunger mostly does not have any possibility to work and try for their rizq at africa. This does not mean they do not have a rizq but it is our duty to help them especially the ones living near us. It is a piece of their rizq in our money, and when we do not give zekad we are being stolen theirs.
By the way, at times of ottoman empire, if there was a beggar at a region, it was shame of people living there. This explains better what i mean.
