Assalamu Alaikum to my Muslim Brothers,

I have been trying to find a hadith in which it was narrated that one of the sahaba confessed to the Holy Prophet Muhammed (Saw) that he deep down felt sad when he slaughtered animals to eat them. To which the Prophet (saw) replied something on the lines of " You will be rewarded for your intention"

I'm unable to find this hadith. if this hadith exists, Can someone please help me find it?

  • I found the hadith in the tafseer of Ibn Katheer (Ra) : In Al-Musnad, it was recorded that one of the Companions said, "O Messenger of Allah, when I slaughter a sheep I feel pity for it.'' He said, «وَلَكَ فِي ذلِكَ أَجْرٌ» (You be rewarded for that.) – Abdulla Dec 23 '18 at 6:40
