Assalamu-Alaikum, I recently facing a problem taking salat in jamat. In 1st and 2nd rakat (during Esha or Magrib) imam recites loudly and have no problem. But in 3rd and 4th rakat imam goes for rukuh and sijdah, where I haven't finished my kerat yet. What should I do in that situation, should I stop reciting kerat and keep pace with imam, or should I finish reciting kerat and then continue with further procedure (rukuh, sijdah etc.)

  • I guess this is a matter of dispute, as the Imam is there to be followed, but I know of some shafi'i brothers who take their own time. Even if hadith clearly say that the recitation of the Imam is sufficient. So an answer might be covering only single view.
