Sunnis believe that the Quran is uncreated - that it has always existed. Is there a Quranic ayah stating this? On what basis do Sunnis claim this to be true?

  • i think not all sunni muslims believe in that. as i know and regard there were 2 sects in an islamic state, probably in khalifat in place of modern iraq, one of them said quran is not created, and one said that it is created, then the sect who said it is not created have won in that country. but i would not say that all muslims belonged to these sects. but their supporters were very aggressive and tried to enforce their views, as i know.

According to what i know, there is no single Ayat which explain that Qur'an is uncreated, but, Qur'an is Kalam Allah. And, Qur'an is eternal according to Al-Hijr 15:9.

  • as i see it is not written in 15:9. you shoud give that phrase word-by-word with explanation to prove, but you cannot.
