I'm a Muslim and I know Allah wants the best for us, however I really want to know why is homosexuality considered a sin and wrong. People say because it's a choice and etc, but I've yet to see a scientific evidence for that as the scientific community is in conflict about homosexuality. Can someone please answer me?

Being attracted towards the people of the same sex is not a sin in Islam. However, homosexual acts (sodomy) are considered as grave sins. Allah almighty, may he be exalted, says regarding sodomy (interpretation of the meaning) :

[7:80-81] And [We had sent] Lot when he said to his people, "Do you commit such immorality as no one has preceded you with from among the worlds? (80) Indeed, you approach men with desire, instead of women. Rather, you are a transgressing people."(81)

[26:165-166] Do you approach males among the worlds. (165) And leave what your Lord has created for you as mates? But you are a people transgressing." (166)

[29:28] And [mention] Lot, when he said to his people, "Indeed, you commit >such immorality as no one has preceded you with from among the worlds.

[27:55] Do you indeed approach men with desire instead of women? Rather, you are a people behaving ignorantly.

Its a grave sin because it goes against the Qur'an and Sunnah. It's also against our fitra (natural disposition of mankind).

Some might argue that homosexual behaviour is found in many animals, so its natural. My response to that is, if animals sodomise each other, that doesn't mean its natural because animals don't have intelligence. Animals can't choose between good and evil but we humans can. Sodomites aren't born sodomites, they are sodomites because they engage in sodomy of their own free will.

There are similar activities (eg. necrophilia) that exist in animals but that does not mean they are normal. Prohibiting necrophiliac behaviour (sex with dead bodies) and permitting sodomy is plain hypocrisy.

"Prohibiting necrophiliac behaviour (sex with dead bodies) and permitting sodomy is plain hypocrisy." There is a fundamental difference between sexual intercourse between two consenting people and intercourse between a person and someone who cannot consent anymore. The last two paragraphs are very opinion based and should just be left out. They don't add anything to the answer. – The Raven Queen Apr 9 '17 at 19:22

I am a muslim but more open minded than i would like and also i have contemplated this same question u posted. The koran is against such an act and as the koran is a book bestowed upon mankind from Allah through his prophet(SAW), I believe its word is supreme. Another way of looking at it is not some act of love between these people but a desire to be different. Homosexuality is not right in any way, we are a civilised people whose own biology show that a man and a woman are meant for each other. You should find your own reason for it, whether u believe its right or wrong is entirely dependent on u. May Allah guide you to the right answer.

I may not seem to have proper context since I am not Muslim. I am a follower of Yeshua. However, with your indulgence, I will offer an opinion. "Sin," as used in the Holy Bible, means "to miss the mark." As you mentioned in your question, God wants the best for us. He sets the mark. He tells us how to hit the mark. There are certain thoughts and actions which "miss the mark." What mark does homosexuality miss? Again, I answer from the Holy Bible, because I have some knowledge of what I believe is God's word to mankind. The Bible expressly prohibits homosexual practice for men or women. Beyond that, I have a belief that may not be shared by others, even adherents to my own faith. I always ask myself, "What did God say?" In regards to man's activity on earth, what was God's "prime directive?" In the Holy Bible's first book, in the first chapter, God's primary directive (commandment) was, "Go forth, be fruitful, and fill the earth." I believe homosexuality is Satan's counterfeit to true love and God-ordained sex. The counterfeit, I believe, is an attempt by Satan to counter-mand, or nullify God's "prime directive." I believe God wants an earth full of people in faith and fellowship with Him. I believe Satan wants an earth full of people in rebellion to God and outside fellowship with Him.
