I do not think such magic still exists. I believe that the existing of Miracles/Magic ended when the last Prophet (PBUH) passed away.
Unlike many I can back that up with some sort of proof. Some scholars associate the Ayah for Magic (2:102) with the Jews as explained here. Now tell me, if Jews really had the power to make people sick, etc. Through magic wouldn't they have used it on their enemies and rules the world?
The same exists for those who claim this is something that exists. Imagine I start a business where I can make a supermodel fall in love with you, many people would pay millions of dollars to do so, it would be a very large scale operation (like drugs, prostitution, every other bad thing is). The same goes for marrying a rich person, etc.
Possession is something also closely associate with Magic (where someone would make a spell to have a person possessed by the devil). That I don't believe in entirely and think it just fake.
I think that this tradition of magic/possession/miracles, was carried over from the old ages, many years ago when things like this would be told and people would believe in them because of the simplistical minds. Notice that the Muslims during their golden age never reported such theories and only once we dwindled down our knowledge that Muslims started believing in such nonsense.
