Nov 30, 2020 at 15:52 comment added user42169 Also, just to back this up, I gave evidence of Ibn Uthaymeen saying: when God says "he runs", we affirm "running is an attribute of his! How? We don't know"! Similarly, Ibn Baz said "smelling is an attribute of God" in his book Masail al Baz, Page number 278, Number 770, First edition!
Nov 30, 2020 at 15:50 comment added Medi1Saif @aesoupv2.0 then ibn 'Uthaymeen erred! Or we seem to speak about two distinct matters.
Nov 30, 2020 at 15:49 comment added user42169 I never said "creation can cause harm to Allah" !! Ibn Uthaymeen said "we just affirm what God affirmed for himself", so The Hadith says "God is harmed", Muslims say "yes, he is harmed but not like Humans or anything we can imagine" !! It is not the literal Human Harm but He is harmed however befits his majesty.

Nov 30, 2020 at 15:43 comment added Medi1Saif @aesoupv2.0 I've already explained that your claim that every scholar toke every textual source by literal interpretation is wrong. Except with the Dhahiri school of fiqh none did so -in general-. And even those explained how they would understand texts and it is not a 100% literal interpretation even for the Dhahiris. So please strike this view out of your mind and start using it for something more useful. All scholars are in consensus that causing harm to Allah is not possible and the qur'an confirms it and there's nothing beyond the qur'an that might be considered as more reliable.
Nov 30, 2020 at 15:39 comment added user42169 But that is not what Scholars think! Only Ibn Uthaymeen didn't take Hadith literally, it is "almost" everyone from the first 3 generations! Take the apparent meaning and leave the hows to Allah, that is what salaf said! You said: Quran is the first source if hadith contradicts! But if that was the case, there won't be any sects in Islam! Anyway, please give me evidence from the first 3 generations of Islam if you don't mind?

Nov 30, 2020 at 15:34 comment added Medi1Saif @aesoupv2.0 I can read the qur'an and I'am able to judge what is correct, by using my mind my good knowledge of Arabic language and the help of reliable sources. Stop labeling people. Ibn 'Uthaymeen may Allah be please with him was a good scholar. I knew/know scholars who have deep knowledge too, but less known, one of them was my teacher may Allah have mercy on him. In any case the qur'an is the first source if hadith contradicts its wording it is not reliable. And if ibn 'Uthamyeen choose to take the hadith literally that's his choice he certainly made mistakes as everyone of us.

Nov 30, 2020 at 15:23 comment added user42169 This is strange coming from you! Quran and Hadith are words and words are interpreted by Scholars! You and I can't read Quran and interpret it according to what we think is correct. That is why I gave evidence of Ibn Uthaymen who is one of the greatest scholars in 20th century!
Nov 30, 2020 at 15:06 comment added Medi1Saif @aesoupv2.0 you have the qur'an and ask about evidences from people?

Nov 30, 2020 at 15:03 comment added user42169 Do you have any authentic evidence from the first 3 generations that this Hadith means "displeases God" instead of "hurts God"?
Nov 30, 2020 at 14:23 comment added Medi1Saif @aesoupv2.0 ibn 'Uthaymeen is not God nor all knowing, and we speak about Arabic language and أذى is something that cause a kind of harm: be it physical or non-physical. In all languages I know of words may have different meanings according the context , Arabic is no exception here. People may translate literally or based on prior knowledge. In fact the hadith is mainly self-explanatory. And combined with the qur'an sources it actually denies that Allah can be hurt because ضرر is more related to pain unless the context implies something else.
Nov 30, 2020 at 13:44 comment added user42169 أذى means hurt/pain !! Ofcourse, you can mold this into whatever form you want depending on the context !! In that way, you can mold anything in anyway !! That is why I gave the example of "Running is an attribute of God" !! Anyway, what about Ibn Uthaymeen than? Why did he say we have to affirm "he is harmed"?
