I've updated the question, because I think it deserve better answers than the question which it may duplicate as that question did not receive answers which answered the question.
Jan 5, 2013 at 20:23 comment added user3550 Updated the question in the hope that it is reopened as I feel the answer below and the answers in the duplicate link do not answer the question asked.

Jan 3, 2013 at 18:46 comment added user3550 Yes, but that is a reason which benefits humans, as Allah gets no benefit from humans, what is Allah's reason for creating us to worship him. As you said, I doubt this reason has been revealed to muslims.

Jan 3, 2013 at 18:44 comment added Yahia @user3550 Allah has one or more reasons for creating us... He told us for example that humans and Jinn were created to worship Him... BUT the only one with complete knowledge in this (and several other) point is Allah.
Jan 3, 2013 at 18:41 comment added user3550 So basically, Allah has a reason for creating us to worship him, but that reason is unknown by muslims?

Jan 3, 2013 at 18:39 comment added Yahia @user3550 Allah shared a lot of knowledge with us... and provided us with a "way of life" leading to jannah (when followed)... He told us about several things that will happen etc. There is a hadith describing our vision as being "veiled" (i.e. there are lots of things we don't see/know). I don't think that the knowledge about Allahs POV on "why He created us" would be of any value for us in this world...
Jan 3, 2013 at 18:35 comment added user3550 @Yahia, Yes, that is what I felt, but I can't prove it, that we have not been told why we were created to worship Allah. i.e, in my question I wrote So, would I be right to assume that muslims have not been told why they were created to worship Allah?.
Jan 3, 2013 at 18:34 comment added Yahia @user3550 According to your "UPDATE 2" you are asking about the POV of Allah... I don't see how any creature (including any human) can really know/desrcibe Allahs POV... this is above and beyond the capability of anyone except Allah himself... thus I think that this question is not answerable....

Jan 3, 2013 at 16:57 comment added مجاهد This is a very good question, but it has been asked before, see this " islam.stackexchange.com/questions/458/… " see if the answers their, answers your question, as for this question, it is a duplicate. A helpful tip, use the search feature to find questions that you have, if you do not find than you can ask. Please take no offense.

Jan 3, 2013 at 16:47 comment added مجاهد that Hadith is a fabricated sufi Hadith, no place in Islam for it. A similar fabrication is I believe goes like this: "Allah was a hidden treasure and wanted to be known, so he created man"
