Jul 29, 2020 at 6:26 comment added Medi1Saif @Insaan as far as I know Tafsir al-Qurtubi Vol 1 - doesn't cover any of the verses I've mentioned in my post (for example the English translation ends with surat al-Baqara maybe aal-'Imran). Therefore I don't know to which explanation/interpretation nor verse you are referring. I couldn't find in any of the named sources something that supports the claim that heavens and earth are made by water however there's a verse in surat al-Anbya' (21:30) one should check

Jun 13, 2019 at 19:00 comment added Medi1Saif Lol you disagree? My post adressees your question and answers it I've quoted a handful of narrations just to show that none says that "this" water is the material from which Allah created the heavens and earth. What scholars might have considered as an evidence for that certainly was another verse. Consider adding a page reference to your claims and a source (English translation or Arabic original) as it is unclear to which verse these interpretations fit. At least it is not verse 11:7 as Volume 1 of Tafsir al-Qurtobi doesn't cover surat ar-Ra'ad.

Jun 13, 2019 at 17:41 comment added Insaan No doubt, that there is from my minute negligible knowledge, nothing in the Qur'an and the Sunnah that explicitly states that the heavens and the earth were created from the Primordial water.
Jun 13, 2019 at 17:32 comment added Insaan I was hoping that i could get citations and reference directly from the sahaba with a 'sahih' or 'hasan' isnaad (mawqoof) to the statements that are mentioned by Imam Al- Qurtubi (ra).
Jun 13, 2019 at 17:31 comment added Insaan Of course to make ta'weel of what the "water" here is not encouraged. Is it H20 or is it primordial matter? Allahu Alam.
Jun 13, 2019 at 17:28 comment added Insaan Moreover he adds that the basic 'element' for all created things is water as was narrated by Ibn Majah and Abu Hatim AL busti from Abu Hurayrah (ra).
Jun 13, 2019 at 17:26 comment added Insaan I disagree brother. In Al Qurtubi's (ra) tafsir, he states that Ibn Masood (ra) , Mujahid (ra) and even Imam Tabari (ra) held the opinion that the water on which the Throne of Almighty sits, was initially turned into smoke (dhukaan) and from this smoke, He Almighty created the heavens and then the water was dried up and this was made into earth was created. (Tafsir Al - Qurtubi Vol 1)
