I'm looking for more contemporary renditions of the stand-alone Arabic letter 'ra'. Unfortunately I cannot read and write Arabic!

Could someone please confirm whether 'ra' is on this page? http://www.behance.net/gallery/Fold-type-%28arabic%29/3768232

Otherwise, I'd be looking for 'ra' rendered in a contemporary font or drawn in a contemporary way.

Also, would Arabic people associate a specific meaning when they see that letter?

Many thanks.

Salam and Welcome to Islam.SE, we suggest you read the FAQ. Your question is about the language of Arabic itself which will be more fit to be on this when it goes beta. Here we do not deal with the Arabic language itself rather we deal with the language that comes through the Quran or sunnah. For example if you want to know what a word means, or grammar regarding it and so on. I pray you understand. – Al Ummat مجاهد Dec 6 '12 at 0:36

I concur this is not a great fit for our website - but to answer your question anyway, yes the letter 'ra' does occur on that page and it is the 10th image. For a more conventional rendition of the letter, you can take a look at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arabic_letters (the letter representing the 'r' sound) – Ansari Dec 6 '12 at 0:40
Thank you for the advice. Is there a meaning associated with the letter 'ra'? – user1154435 Dec 6 '12 at 11:05
This one I believe is supposed to be a stylized 'ra': behance.vo.llnwd.net/profiles2/112676/projects/3768232/… – System Down Dec 6 '12 at 18:27

The page provided in the question was more an artistic and graphical reforming of arabic letters, not the same as they appear in Quran or books.

Here are the different forms of letter 'ra' as they appear in isolated, initial middle or final letter of an arabic word (from right to left).

If you are interested to see all forms of other arabic letters as well, please see the Arabic letters usage in Literary Arabic table on this wikipedia webpage.

Thanks, Ali. Is there a meaning associated with the letter 'ra' which people may think of when seeing it? – user1154435 Dec 6 '12 at 11:06
@user1154435 No. However some other letters have, like "waw" that stands for "And". – Ali Dec 6 '12 at 13:29
