Islam Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for Muslims, experts in Islam, and those interested in learning more about Islam. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have a couple questions:

  1. During the time of the Prophet (S), how many wars did he participate in? Did they have peaceful conflicts?
  2. Is Islam a religion of peace or war? If it is a religion of peace, why did the Prophet (S) get into so many wars?

This really needs to be multiple different questions. There is too much here –  Dynamic Jun 24 '12 at 17:43
Don't you think this is a bit trolly too? I mean, this isn't Politics.SE, it's Islam.SE. We are not here to talk about conflicts between countries. –  Dynamic Jun 24 '12 at 17:47
Would you mind changing the question to cover one area, instead of a wide array? –  Dynamic Jun 24 '12 at 17:56
you should edit it to make it smaller and more meaningful. –  Ashu Jun 24 '12 at 17:59
I think it still needs to be two questions: 1) How many wars? 2) is Islam a religion of peace or war? I can see the second question bringing up a lot of material. –  Flimzy Jun 24 '12 at 19:19

the meaning fatwa in that webpage

Zaid was asked how many غزوة did the prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم have ? . He answered 19 , then He was asked about the number of times that he was with the prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم . He said 17 .

and Ahl al seer اهل السير said that it was 25 , and some people said 27 , and some people said 29.

And Alhafez ibn Hajr said after he collected these says , the people that mentioned a high number take each event of these as a gazwa, but people who mentioned less take the events that are happened in the same period of time is one Gazwa for example taking bani qareza , al-Khandaq as one Gazwa .

and Sarayas were more , they are from 40-70

took me 30 mins to think.:)

Islam is religion of peace., (Not War) despite after so many teachings of Islam (First was of Shadaah) from Prophet Muhammed S.A.W to the unbelievers, they did not accept, so thats y Allah commanded Prophet Muhammed S.A.W to wage a war against them.

Can you clarify the last paragraph... it reads a lot like "Islam is religion of peace, as long as you accept it, otherwise it'll declare war" - that is not "peace" –  Marc Gravell Oct 10 '12 at 9:06
@MarcGravell for peace for humanity some times war is needed against aggressor humans. war is not always bad. it is like cutting an organ to keep health of total body. human society is like a body that needs to control some sick organs to health of body can survive. peace has no meaning against aggressor humans who want to control all humans as their slaves even by terror and want to control all the world. prophet never fought any one who respected Muslims and did not kill Muslims. even Jews and polytheists were free until they respected and did not kill Muslims. –  Battle of Karbala Oct 10 '12 at 9:26
i also meant, that the unbelievers, disturbed Prophet Muhammed S.A.W. and Muslims so much that it was time for war. –  Ice_Snow Oct 10 '12 at 10:23
